Gaios is the capital of Paxos and the main port of the island. The settlement stands out for its traditional architecture, picturesque alleys, colorful buildings and mansions and classic shops with tourist items.

Gaios is protected by two islands, the island of Panagia and the island of Agios Nikolaos. In the port of Gaios there is a marina for small fishing boats as well as tourist boats and in the northernmost part of the port, called Manescos, larger ships approach.
